Summary:

The Estimator position is defined by the company as providing the coordination necessary to manage all necessary responsibilities to ensure the completion of a quality project within the allowed budget and scheduled time frame, while maintaining constant contact with the Client to understand and achieve their expectations.  

The ideal candidate will utilize personal skills, construction expertise, and a diligent work ethic to provide Client proposals that help ICS capitalize upon revenue opportunities. The Estimator will be responsible for a continued demonstration of appropriate skills and functions that include but are not limited to Client proposals, Client budgets, product presentations, product pricing, budget management, internal and external communication, and accurate budget forecasting/reporting. These activities are to result in net sales and profit growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the estimating process and schedule to ensure timely completion of proposals.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of all drawings, plan documents, addendum, submittals, RFIs and subcontractor bids throughout the duration of the bid and buyout processes.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the project goals as relates to both ICS and its Client, while managing the process necessary to deliver on these goals.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations applicable to a given project (i.e. architect procedures, building requirements, etc.).
  • Work in conjunction with the project team to facilitate the procurement of proposals from subcontractors and vendors as necessary to complete detailed comprehensive proposals for our Clients.
  • Work with the project team, Owner’s representatives and all necessary parties (i.e. subcontractors, vendors, architect, engineers, building officials) to manage changes in scope as they occur.
  • Generate ITB packages for procurement of necessary pricing.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using company's computer systems.
  • Accurately list all existing conditions, on a Site-Visit Report form, of a project job site and its surrounding areas where applicable.
  • Thoroughly document a project’s high points and manage all project documentation to hand-off awarded projects from estimating to project management.
  • Maintain consistent and professional correspondence with all client representatives, designers, subcontractors, vendors, co‐workers, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four‐year college or university; or three to four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in commercial construction is required.  
  • Computer Skills:
    • Excellent knowledge of PC based applications (Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; and Microsoft Outlook) is required.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Hiring, firing, development and daily management of direct reports.
